Week 24 - July 23

Vintage cars on display

Buffalo Bill festival @ Golden

dragon boat racing

infamous Monkey Balls

Hey,

It's another hectic work week. Have been conducting numerous training sessions for the School of Dentistry in preparation for the upcoming Fall semester. As much as I enjoy the attention, well not this kind, but the demands by the various schools - nursing, medicine, physical theraphy to get their staff trained is proving to be quite challenging, but one that I am embracing with open arms.

I had a fun weekend attenting various festivals - Dragon Boat racing and Buffalo Bill's music. The dragon boat racing was held at Sloans Lake park and unfortunately, the university boat team were beaten in their heat :(

The highlight of the day was seeing people line up to scoff down some Monkey Balls.... don't even ask!

Buffalo Bill's festival was held at downtown Golden, with plenty of food, clothing and jewellery vendors just trying to make a few bucks.

Week 23 - July 16

Greetings,

What a sensational time I had whitewater rafting down the Arkansas river. The water level was quite moderate, but just enough to experience the adrenalin of going over the rapids. I went with some work colleagues - Greg and Jeremy and we all had a blast! I can't wait to do a class 4 now!

Week 22 - July 9

Hey All,

Had a pretty good weekend once again. Went tubing down the Boulder river with work colleagues. It was great fun, although the water was quite chilly. I'm psyching myself up for an upcoming water rafting trip, so the mini rapids were a way to mentally prepare myself for the big challenge.

I also went to a great BBQ where I met heaps of triathletes, so I was picking their brains non-stop My race is approaching rapidly and I am still not 100% confident with the open water swim. Well with only 3 weeks to go, I feel physically in shape and am quite happy with my progress so far.

Week 21 - July 2

Happy 4th July from Denver!

Obviously it was a huge celebration here to mark America's independence from the kingdom of Great Britain in 1776. It was a relatively short week, which was fantastic. Went to a work colleagues house for a BBQ and put some "shrimps on the barbie" for my American friends, which surprisingly turned out to be sensational! Overall, it was a rather relaxing day, just chilling out in his backyard and intermittently, contributing to a live radio feed over the internet.

I got to finally touch/play with the much anticipated iPhone. Must say it's pretty awesome, the touchscreen & menus are relatively easy to use and the quality of the images/video files are truly amazing! It's fantastic device, but extremely overpriced at the moment.

Week 20 - June 25

3 Ring Event - Copper Mountain

KC and the Sunshine Band

Acrobatic performers

Copper Mountain Resort

Greetings from the Mile High city,

What a wonderful week it has been yet again. Am really enjoying my time here in CO and continue my expedition within and across the state(s). Have been getting to know some of my downtown colleagues which has been fun, since I only get to see them once a week. They are all pretty easy going and relaxed, and extremely intelligent/talented in what they do (ie video production, web design, programming, marketing etc). We all went to this awesome Cuban bar called "Samba Room" for some happy hour drinks. Tried a "mojito" which is rather refreshing especially during the stifling heat we have been experiencing for the past few weeks.

Over the weekend, I went to one of the best "free" concerts I've been to so far - KC and the Sunshing Band at Copper Mountain. It was fantastic! I managed to stand up close to the stage and "shook my bootie" to the live music. It was a jammed pack crowd ranging from teens right up to the oldies that probably knew every single word (mind you I'm embarassed to say I knew a lot of the words to the songs)!!! I can't wait to see the tribute band to ABBA in a few weeks time!

My triathlon race is in 5 weeks time and have begun increasing the intensity of my training. I'm still quite nervous of the open water swim, but will expand the pool sessions during the next few days/week9s) leading up to the race. I feel mentally and physically strong at the moment, but I really don't want to "overtrain" my body as it's still acclimatizing to the altitude.
