Swimmers getting ready

Hey,
It's been a jammed packed week once again, no slowing down these days, although I should as I had an extremely freaky experience earlier this week. I was at a baseball game (rockies vs yankees) and was feeling normal until suddenly within 5 mins, both my arms became numb, my breathing was quite shallow, my hearing went, then my vision became quite blurry. Fortunately I did not faint and managed to walk over to the water fountain and started splashing cold water continously on my face/neck/arms throughout the evening, until I finally went home to rest. I think it was a combination of being dehydrated from the extreme heat and low blood pressure. Didn't do any form of strenuous exercise this past week since I didn't want to jeopardize my triathlon race, which is in a few weeks time. I did however volunteered my services at a tri-event and got to watch some of the pros compete. I'm still petrified of the open swim as I have only been in the pool twice and my race is approaching rapidly :(
Nonetheless, I capped off the week by attending a Greek festival, where I scoffed down a spinakopita and bakalava, and then attended a free Jazz concert in a park nearby my apartment. Overall, quite an entertaining week for me. Stay tuned for next week's adventures.

Week 18 - June 11

Hi Y'All,

It's been a pretty cool week as it progressed along. Work has been crazy with course migrations and training. Nonetheless, it's been very satisfying. Will be heading to Boston in a few weeks time for a Blackboard user conference, so am exciting to be visiting the East Coast once again.

I've had a wonderful weekend just hanging out with my work colleagues from the downtown office since I only get to see them once a week. A group of us went out to this awesome bar Friday afternoon called the "Corner Office", quite an appropriate place to have a few drinks with your manager! After several martinis, we were all ready to hit another bar. My night ended at a British pub, with a few "Shandys" and "Bangers & Mash". Both were surprisingly good! There was a rugby game on the TV, which I ended up having to educate my American friends in the game to the best of the knowledge, which after a few drinks, I just began making up the rules!.

Went MTB at Green Mountain Sun morning which is a stunning place to ride. Some insane hills, but extremely satisfying when you reach the top. Had a great workout, but had to make several stops while trying to suck in as much O2 as I could. Will definitely be heading back next week as it's a perfect place to train.

Week 17 - June 4

Rocky Mountain National Park

Coors Field (downtown)- baseball game between Colorado Rockies & Houston Astros

It's been quite a hectic week juggling work & training, while entertaining friends in town. Have been trying to cram in 2 weeks of sight-seeing into the one. We started off the week in downtown just soaking in the atmosphere and a game of competitive scrabble (which I just watched) as my friends battled it out for the honour of winning!
Summer time is definitely the perfect time to visit Colorado. Managed to squeeze in a picnic at Red Rocks, in the midst of a Colorado Rockies baseball game, hiking in the Rocky Mountain national park and almost being struck by lightning at 11,000 ft!
I had my first stack mountain biking this past week while riding at Elk Meadows. Tried to make a sharp turn, but lost my balance and fell sideways and landed on my left leg. Couldn't get my foot unclipped in time and ended up scraping my knee, but that didn't stop me from continuing with the ride. It almost felt as if I was being "initiated" :)

Week 16 - May 28

Outdoor Ampitheatre - Vail

Greetings,

This past weekend, Ash and I drove up to Vail for the Teva Mountain games. Vail is pretty spectacular in the summer time as you can actually see it (since it's covered in snow the rest of the winter). There were several events that took place during the weekend - mountain biking, kayaking, trail running, fly fishing. Even Floyd Landis (2006 Tour de France winner/loser and doper?) participated in the mountain bike race, which I did not get to see as I had to drive back to Denver to meet up with some friends who were flying in from Indiana. I hear he didn't win, so I guess that Gatorade wasn't enough to stretch him over the finish line!

Week 15 - May 21

Chile Challenge - Mountain bike race - Angel Fire, New Mexico

Camp site - Angel Fire

Angel Fire

Greetings,

Well this past long weekend (Memorial Day), Ash and I drove down to New Mexico for a mountain bike race. It's a pretty cool state. You would imagine that driving down south of Colorado, that the elevation would decrease, instead, we were pretty much up around 8500 feet. The mountain bike race was held at a ski resort (Angel Fire) which is around 4 hours from Denver. Nonetheless, the drive down was quite spectacular, especially seeing hundreds of cute guys in their lycra gear :) Thought somehow I had ended up in heaven!

After the race, we stopped off at another cute little town TAOS, approx 40 mins from Angel Fire. There were numerous native american indian hand-made craft stores. Overall, a very small town, that happened to be invaded by bikers (almost all on Harleys) this particular weekend.

Week 14 - May 14

Greetings,
What a fantastic week it's been. Again I went out exploring and did some hiking up at Chautauqua park. This time, we hiked all the way to the top, which took around 1 1/2 hours, rather exhausting, but well worth it.
We stopped off at Estes Park, which is a cute little town, with tons of tourists passing by. You can get some fantastic homemade cookies and also ice-cream there!
