Week 29 - August 27
some aussie riders at the race

eventual winner - 47 yr old Californian Tinker Juarez

the countdown begins.....
Despite the unfavourable finish from the aussie riders, I had a great time getting to know the other support crew and it was definitely great to hang out with some good old "fair dinkum" aussies!

Greetings from Monterey, California,
Wow it was definitely a very challenging week for me as I was about to embark into "unknown" territory of being the support crew in a 24 hour moutain bike race. My biggest fear was that I would fall-asleep and miss portions of the race, but fortunately, with my adrenaline on such a high, I was able to make it through, well with a few short power-naps in between :)
With the temperatures soaring to the high 30's, it was no wonder that most of the aussie riders started to fade after just 12 hours of riding. Well, they did literally step off the plane from the harsh winter back at home prior to the race so we'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
Despite the unfavourable finish from the aussie riders, I had a great time getting to know the other support crew and it was definitely great to hang out with some good old "fair dinkum" aussies!
